Signs and Symptoms:

  • Full or Heavy sensation
  • Skin feeling tight
  • Decreased joint mobility
  • Difficulty fitting into clothing or jewelry
  • Swelling
  • Infection
  • New sensation of "pins and needles"

Note: these signs and symptoms must be located in the area of risk to be considered a sign of lymphedemaa chronic, abnormal swelling of a part of the body. It is an accumulation of protein-rich fluid in the superficial tissues that most commonly occurs in the arms or legs but can affect any part of the body.. The area at risk is the arm or leg and the part of the trunk where lymph nodes were removed or injured.
